Stuart Baillie - Chairman

As a qualified accountant, I worked in practice for several years before moving into industry. Over the past decade or so I have focused on high potential start-ups in which I have played key roles in financial control, raising finance and preparing companies for sale or venture capital.

My experience in preparing a company for a trade sale began with Red Circle Technologies Limited, where I spent around five years in the early 2000s. The company was founded in 1999 and its head office was based in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland with additional offices in the UK, Spain and the Philippines.

The company provided mobile media content solutions including video, images and music solutions to personalised mobile devices. Red Circle operated in Ireland, the UK, Australia, Spain and the US. I held a senior financial role with the company and played a key part in preparing the business for a successful international sale. Once the business was sold it provided me with a financial platform to join a small team of entrepreneurs who were setting up a new energy business in 2008.

PrePayPower is a household name these days, with regular TV, press and radio advertisements. By early 2015 it had over 100,000 customers and is still growing. It is now the largest privately-owned prepaid electricity company in Ireland. However, back in 2008 it was a different story. Ireland was in the eye of an economic storm and raising capital for a start-up was a serious challenge.

I introduced the idea of raising money through loan notes, which we structured in such a way to allow private pensions to lend to the company. It turned out to be a phenomenal success for the company; we raised in excess of €1.8 million. It was a terrific success for the pension investors too; many of whom effectively doubled their original investment over a six year period. I am no longer involved with PrePayPower on a day-to-day basis, but I remain a shareholder. On the back of this success I have established Europa Strategic Partners Limited in conjunction with a highly experienced team of professionals from within the private security sector.

Europa Strategic Partners is a private security company operating in Hyderabad, India. India is the world’s fastest growing major economy, with growth of 7% per annum expected for 2015 and 2016. In India, the private security sector is growing at 20% per annum, year on year. The market in Hyderabad has an increasing demand for security services that can offer European standards; this is where Europa Strategic Partners has a significant competitive edge over its local rivals.

Noel Grier

Noel’s early background was in Retail Banking. He has over 20 years experience in the security business. Noel was Head of Security with Irish Life and Permanent before leaving in 2002. He joined Chubb Ireland, one of Ireland’s largest security Companies and assisted in the development of one of the most innovative Cash in Transit (CiT) operations in the country at that time. The CiT business was transformed in 2006 and major changes were developed to ensure that the security relating to this business was improved by developing and implementing new technology and safety measures for the general public and staff working in the industry.

Noel worked on various committees with Banks, Police authorities (GTAG) and the Irish Government (Private Security Authority) to develop the standards required to ensure that CiT was strictly regulated and this resulted in IS999 being implemented by all the parties. In 2009, Noel joined Senaca Group as a Strategic Development Manager. He went to Kenya as General Manager and Director of KK Lodgit (joint venture with KK Security) a new CiT Company based in Nairobi. This was a new venture for KK Security and major contracts with Financial Institutions and major retailers were won. This business continues to thrive. He returned to Ireland in 2011 and became General Manager of the Guarding and Cash in Transit Divisions of Senaca Group.

In 2012, as Senaca East Africa continued to expand, Noel went to Uganda to set up Senaca Uganda Limited. While this was initially a feasibility exercise, the new Guarding division obtained new contracts resulting in a staff of 550 within 12 months.

Noel brings extensive experience in both the Cash in Transit and Guarding business and in particular new ventures. His Banking background brings a clear understanding of the services required by Financial Institutions for ATM servicing and general Cash in Transit operations.

He has recently been appointed Head of CiT/Cash Services for Europa Strategic Partners and his experience, skills and knowledge of the industry will be a major addition to the senior management team.

Linda Callaghan

An ACCA qualified accountant since 2011 with experience working in both large and small companies, Linda worked in the Aircraft Leasing and Securitisation industry for 8 years prior to joining Europa Strategic Partners. She was a client services accountant and worked on a portfolio of clients consisting of finance and operating leasing companies, special purposes vehicles and treasury clients. The work involved was tailored to individual client requirements and required a flexible and adaptable approach to ensure clients’ needs were met. The services provided included accounting, taxation, compliance and secretarial work.

She worked on some of the largest aircraft leasing companies and this involved preparing monthly/quarterly management accounts, preparing annual financial statements and therefore gaining knowledge in IFRS, GAAP etc… preparing tax returns and other statutory and central bank returns. It was a fast paced environment where portfolios and client needs consistently changed. Linda needed to adapt quickly and be able to handle change effectively. Linda joins the team as our Financial Accountant and will be looking after all the financial requirements of our growing business.

John Bruton

John Bruton is a former Irish Prime Minister (Taoiseach), who helped transform the Irish economy into the “Celtic Tiger,” one of the fastest growing economies in the world. In the year before he took office (1993) the Irish economy grew by 2.7%. During his time as Taoiseach (1994-1997), the Irish economy grew at an annual average rate of 8.7%, peaking at 11.1% in 1997. John Bruton was also deeply involved in the Northern Irish Peace Process leading to the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, under whose terms a conflict of allegiances dating back to the seventeenth century was resolved.

While Prime Minister, Ambassador Bruton presided over a successful Irish EU Presidency in 1996 and helped finalize the Stability and Growth Pact, which governs the management of the single European currency, the Euro. Mr.Bruton addressed a joint session of the US Congress on September 11, 1996, as only the 30th head of state or government of an EU country to do so since 1945. He was probably the only President in office of the European Council to have addressed a joint session of Congress. Further, he represented the EU at Summit meetings with the President of the United States and with the Prime Ministers of Canada, Japan, China and Korea. Before being appointed Ambassador to the United States, John Bruton served as a leading member of the Convention that drafted the proposed European Constitution, which was signed in Rome on October 29, 2004. He strongly supported proposals to give the general public a more direct say in the choice of EU leadership by allowing the public of the 27 EU Member States directly to elect the President of the European Commission.

From 1999 until his appointment as Ambassador, he was one of ten Vice Presidents of the European People’s Party, which brings together the leaderships of 74 European political parties, many of whom are in Government in their countries. Since 2001 he has spoken on world, European and Irish economic developments to influential business and political audiences in New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Canada, Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ukraine, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and numerous EU Member States. Since taking up his position in Washington in 2004, John Bruton has met with the President and former Presidents of the United States and visited with governors, mayors, business leaders and students in over 20 US states to explain that the expanding European Union is good for the US economy and good for American jobs. In Washington, DC, Ambassador Bruton has had one-to-one meetings with over 250 Members of Congress to explain major EU developments and discuss the importance of the EU-US relationship in matters of trade, counter terrorism, public health, energy, the environment and the promotion of peace, democracy and human rights around the world.

John Bruton was first elected to the Irish Parliament (“Dáil Éireann”) in 1969 at the age of 22 as a member of the Fine Gael Party, becoming Party Leader in 1990 and leading it into government in 1994. He previously served as Ireland’s Minister for Finance (1981-1982 and 1986-1987); Minister for Industry & Energy (1982-1983); Minister for Trade, Commerce & Tourism (1983-1986); and was Parliamentary Secretary (Junior Minister) from 1973-1977. He has also been opposition spokesman on Agriculture and on Education.

As Minister for Finance, he began the task of overcoming a major budget deficit crisis for Ireland in 1981 and made proposals to overhaul budgetary procedures to allow long-term planning and a realistic appraisal of the choices facing legislators. As Minister for Industry, he prepared and had enacted into law the comprehensive industrial development legislation, which underpins Irish growth to this day, and undertook a major overhaul of Irish company law. He resigned his seat effective November 1, 2004 to take up his appointment as EU Commission Head of Delegation in the United States.

John Bruton was born in 1947 and graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and politics in 1968 before studying to become a barrister. He was called to the Bar of Ireland in 1972. He holds Honorary Degrees from Memorial University of Newfoundland and the National University of Ireland. He is married to Finola Bruton and has 4 adult children.
